Five Summer Activities to do in Minnesota
It’s officially Summer in Minnesota! As the temperatures start to rise over the next three months and as most Minnesotians want to squeeze out every ounce of time we can get outside, here you’ll find a couple of summer activities to check out. Whether it’s with the kids, friends or family! Let’s get outside and soak it up!
1. Minnesota Zoo
The Minnesota Zoo, is an AZA-accredited zoo in Apple Valley, Minnesota. It is one of two state-supported zoos in the United States, with the other being the North Carolina Zoo. Although the Minnesota Zoo is open year-round, the summer season is an amazing time to explore.
2. Como Zoo and Conservatory
The Como Park Zoo and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory are located in Como Park at 1225 Estabrook Drive, Saint Paul, Minnesota. The park, zoo and conservatory are owned by the City of Saint Paul and are a division of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation. If you’re looking for a full day with the family you’ll find the zoo to be a great budget-friendly option. Both the conservatory and zoo are free to enter. They do encourage donations if you can afford them.
3. North Shore Scenic Drive
North Shore Scenic Drive is one of the best things to do in Minnesota when the weather allows. Travel along Lake Superior’s north shore from Duluth, Minnesota all the way to Ontario, Canada’s Thunder Bay. Along the way you’ll find several state parks and attractions such as Grand Portage State Park, Split Rock Lighthouse and Tettegouche.
4. Gooseberry Falls State Park
Gooseberry Falls State Park is a state park of Minnesota The park is located in Silver Creek Township, about 13 miles northeast of Two Harbors, Minnesota in Lake County on scenic Minnesota Highway 61 The 2.5 mile segment of the Gitchi-Gami State Trail that runs through the park is now paved and ready for use – it’s great for biking! The trail connects our lower picnic area to the rest of the Gitchi-Gami State Trail along Highway 61, so there is now a continuous paved trail from Gooseberry to the town of Silver Bay, with access to the Gooseberry Visitor Center, campground and the shores of Lake Superior.
4. Bunker Beach
Bunker Beach is a water park in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, within the 1,700-acre Bunker Hills Regional Park. Bunker Beach now features six towering waterslides, a 900′ lazy river, leisure pool with climbing wall, a zero-entry pool with water play structure and wave pool. Suitable for families with children of all ages, especially those that love adventure and outdoor water sports.
